So, I kept recieving mixed reviews about Watchmen. I have to say, the trailers I saw were just awesome looking and after that I did hear a lot of people say they loved the movie. I also heard a few people saying it just wasn't very good.

Well I finally got to see the movie today...

I have to say that this is one of the few movies that surpassed my expectations by far. The acting, the special effects, the directing, all awesome. What was best though, is that this was a very different 'super-hero' movie. There was a strong air of realism and that these crime-fighters were also just people like anyone else. Apart from being suprisingly deep and well plotted, there was a lot of kick ass fight scenes and great characters in general.

So who else has seen and loved it?! >w<
I have to ask, had you read the books before? The general consensus that I've gathered is that generally people who had read the books enjoyed the movie more than the people who hadn't.

Also, the realism is one thing I had expected and I'm glad to hear that they kept it. Watchmen was one of the first comics to deconstruct the superhero, so that realism is a very important part of it.

I have not been to see it yet, soon though.
Sadly I've not read the books but I really want to now. I think I'll actually buy them because I was so impressed with the movie.

I think that's one of the most appealing and surprising things about the movie. I knew it would be a darker movie but it was nice to see such a original take on the idea of superheros.
