Kat-san and I were having a discussion, and it came up that cosplaying once a year is just not enough. I have to say, most of these ideas (if not all of them xD) were Kat-san's ideas so I officially disclaim them.

Anyway, first Kat-san suggested we all go out in cosplay just around somewhere like Wal-mart and then out to eat. She suggested that it would probably just be peoples' characters in casual cosplay so they we don't have to worry about getting our expensive outfits dirty.

Next she suggested that we cosplay more at meetings. Of course this is purely at everyone's discression, but we thought we could actually do some advertising in cosplay by doing various silly things on video we could post online. We also talked about that it'd be nice to even occasionally have panels based upon cosplaying like a Q&A session with characters.

There could also be theme days, such as cross-play day where you cosplay one of your characters, just reverse the gender xD. And other things like maid day, or punk day, just things of that nature.

Anyway not sure how well I communicated this, but I'm sure if I've gotten something wrong or left something out that Kat-san will correct me xD. Just though I would put this out there to get some feedback from everyone.
We both sorta came up with most of these ideas. XD But yesss, I think this would be fun and epic. : 3 Fem!Ed ftw. XD
Okay, first of all, we have to work out a dress code and get it approved and set in place before anything like this can be considered.

That aside, there are a few minor details that have to be nit-picked on. First off, we don't want mass publicity just yet and running around Walmart in costumes might just bring us that. This would be something more to consider once we get our NPO status taken care of.

My other concerns about doing it at the meetings would be that it couldn't be spur of the moment if you wanted to do some kind of panel around it, it would need to be scheduled. Also, cosplaying too often could take a lot of the "special-ness" away from it, and if it became expected at the meetings could become more of a burden than its easy to realize at a first glance.

This has been brought up in some regards before, and I don't think its a bad idea, but it needs to be refined quite a bit before we can use it. That being said, this is something that needs to be kind of put on the backburner until we can take care of the matters at hand. Not trying to be a downer, but if we don't concentrate on the core of the organization, we can't expect to be able to work in something like this.
Ah I wasn't too clear on this with my first post x.x. Sorry, lemme clarify some things.

First this is definitely something that'll be put on the backburner. It's not exactly something that we plan on doing anytime all that soon. We were just discussing it and I thought I'm make a post about it just to see what everyone thought and to get some constructive critism.

Second the wal-mart thing is just really something me and Kat wanna do for fun xD. You have a good point that it might attract a little too much attention at this point, but we were thinking this would be less of a club funciton and more of a group outting.

Third, we definitely wouldn't be requiring people to do cosplays at meetings, and this would probably be something we'd only do every two or three months. We don't wanna put pressure on people to do so, it'd just purely be for fun x.x. And the panels would definitely not be that frequent either. We don't wanna ruin the excitement of cosplaying either of course, so it wouldn't be a 'every meeting' thing.

So yeah, I knew I was leaving a lot of stuff out there with the first post x.x. But in general, the idea behind all of the discussion is to be able to cosplay more than once a year. It's such a time consuming, expensive thing that it kind of feels like a waste if a costume is only used once. Besides that, it's so much fun as well and it'd just be nice to do more with it than cosplaying at cons.

Anyways, thanks for all the feedback. Was basically exactly what I was hoping for from peoples =D.
I think just simple cosplays at meetings would be fun. So long as it's not too over-the-top or distracting. Maybe the cosplays where you focus more on looking like a certain character than trying to replicate their exact costumes or weapons, etc.
