Basically I just wanted to let you all know that all the work the One Act team I'm apart of...has paid off.

For those of you who don't know, One Act is a VHSL sport. It's where you actually perform a play. The rules are: You have 30 minutes in the costume room(while another team is performing on stage. You will never get to see the play that's listed before you.), you have 5 minutes to set up on stage, you have to perform the play in under 35 minutes (If you're even a second over, you're disqualified.), and you have 5 minutes to get everything off stage.

Anyways,

My team and I were a bit disappointed when we went to Districts as we placed in second (due to some issues I don't plan to mention on here. Want to know? Get in touch with me, I'lll tell you all about it.). Several people, though, said we should have placed first but we didn't. Also, everyone was expecting me to get an acting award....but I didn't.

Now, even though we got second we were able to advance to Regions, which was yesterday and the reason why Kaishu and I were not at the meeting.

Regions is really your make or break place. If you place first or second at regions, you get to go to State Competition in Charlottesville. Anyways, it was a lonnng day. I was up at 6 in the morning getting ready, and was leaving the school at 9 in the morning. We got to VA High School at approximately 10:30. We were getting our set unloaded and checking out the stage.

One problem, Only one set of lights were working.

And unfortunately, our play requires a lot of light work.

The lights that WERE working were actually the lights on the apron (the apron is the stage lip that extends beyond the curtain line, towards the audience).

We were excited at first, thinking we'd have plenty of space for us and our set (our set is a good 24 pieces. This includes boxes 4ft' tall, 4 sets of steps, smaller boxes, and a wheelchair ramp.).But due to this complication with the lighting...we were going to have to play the apron and a few feet back only, because lighting is key. If you aren't in the lighting...points are deducted.

So anyways, a bit nervous now, we all sat down and got ready for the first play, Jolly Roger & The Pirate Queen. The first play was good, but it was a comedy and it was hard to hear anyone. After the play, we proceeded back to the costume room to get ready. This includes costuming, hair, makeup, and going over the play in warp speed.

Time to go on.

All of us really made the best of what little space we had, and we all put our hearts into it. We flubbed a couple of times and some of us were nervous that because of those mistakes...we wouldn't advance.

Lunchbreak came, and it was back on.

The next play was Flowers for Algernon. If you haven't read it, please do. It's such a touching story. And the boy who played Charlie Gordon was incredible. We were getting even more nervous.

Next was The Complete Works of Shakespere. And oh my God, was it hilarious! I could not stop laughing! The timing and everything was so well conducted.

Even MORE nervous now.

And then the last play we got to saw was This Is A Test. It was pretty cute.

Now for the judging.

And man, was that a painful hour.

The judges came back, critiqued and handed that little sheet to the host.

Honorable Mentions for acting awards went to several in our cast individually...and our ENTIRE cast as a whole.

The actual awards went to some from other schools....but a lot from our play received them..Including me Smile

And as for Oustanding Actress? The highest award for a female actress, went to our lead. <3

Now we're dashing back to our seats and all of us are grabbing each others hands.

Second Place...Virginia High School.

I thought I was going to break Kaishu and Monica's hands.

First Place...J J Kelly High School.

I started screaming, and crying, and we all ran for that trophy.

I've never been so happy you guys. We're Region D Champs, and I'm going to state in December.

I just had to share this,

Sorry for the lengthiness.Heart
Congrats! Hope you all do well in state as well.

And thanks so much you guysez. Heart
They were really amazing, and Ami in particular blew me away in portraying the role of the mother. One word, MIL- ... ok I'll stop right there.
