Please, some one who knows more about anime tell me this is a spoof and these people were not serious about remaking sailor moon like this! What the heck could be worse than taking a most beloved anime series like Sailor Moon and killing it into this a live action/animated turd like this.

Ok, I was chatting with my brother-in-law and we got into a simi-argument about the plural of anime. I think it is Animes but he thinks it is Anime (like deer is plural for deer). I just need to settle this, so what is the right way?

I recently bought some DVDs and got a free one called Diamond Daydreams as a gift. I have never heard of this anime and was wondering if any of y'all had and if it is any good? After reading the back it sounds ok if a little chick flicky.

Due to the flood of spammers lately (I just kicked three more) all new registrants will need administrator approval before they can post for the time being. This is a bit of a draconian way to deal with it, but I'm out of options at the moment.

Long story short, if you are a member and have a friend that signs up, let me know and I'll approve them. If you just stumble across the site and want to join, email me at ace(at)akanime.org. I'm thinking on a better way to deal with this right now, but this will keep anyone from signing up to spam us for the time being.

I just purged about 15 accounts from the forums for being bots and/or spammers. Unfortunately, since this was a fairly large operation, I may have accidentally caught a real person in the crossfire (I doubt it, but hey, I'm only human). If you are interested in our group and your account was deleted, I do apologize. Feel free to recreate your account and when you do, make sure to send me a private message letting me know. 95% of the people I deleted were suspected spammers because of links in the signature (specifically if that's all that was in the signature and it linked to some sort of product). The other 5% were people who were not activated and had had less than 30 seconds online (typically a strong indicator of a bot).

Again, apologies if you got caught in the crossfire.

Once finals are over for me I'm going to see what I can do about tightening the ability to sign up to make it harder for spambots to make it to the forums. If they continue to sign up for our forums, I will resort to banning full IP ranges. I don't wish to do this, but there's only so much we can deal with.

Super Mario Brothers Wii

I rented the new Super Mario Brothers for the wii this weekend just to check it out. I was pretty excited since this was a new 2D Mario game.

So far I've played the hell out of it xD. It's weird to play Mario with the wiimote and that's really the only complaint I have so far. Also if you fail at a level too many times it offers you something called the 'super guide' where you can see the level played through or practice yourself, though the demo doesn't show all the hidden goodies in the level. It does come in handy, but I kinda felt that was making things too easy >>.

Anyway, another cool feature is that this is multiplayer. You can actually play with up to 4 people. I do plan to pick this up sometime soon, and I'll probably bring it to the next meeting for everyone to check out =D (if I can afford to get it before then.)

Cosplay events

Kat-san and I were having a discussion, and it came up that cosplaying once a year is just not enough. I have to say, most of these ideas (if not all of them xD) were Kat-san's ideas so I officially disclaim them.

Anyway, first Kat-san suggested we all go out in cosplay just around somewhere like Wal-mart and then out to eat. She suggested that it would probably just be peoples' characters in casual cosplay so they we don't have to worry about getting our expensive outfits dirty.

Next she suggested that we cosplay more at meetings. Of course this is purely at everyone's discression, but we thought we could actually do some advertising in cosplay by doing various silly things on video we could post online. We also talked about that it'd be nice to even occasionally have panels based upon cosplaying like a Q&A session with characters.

There could also be theme days, such as cross-play day where you cosplay one of your characters, just reverse the gender xD. And other things like maid day, or punk day, just things of that nature.

Anyway not sure how well I communicated this, but I'm sure if I've gotten something wrong or left something out that Kat-san will correct me xD. Just though I would put this out there to get some feedback from everyone.
